Josh Sikes
GIPS Board Member: Ward A
Josh Sikes and his wife, Kassandra, have three children who have attended GIPS exclusively since kindergarten. Josh has a son and daughter-in-law that are both education majors at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, studying secondary math and science.
Josh and Kassandra were brought to Grand Island in 2001 after earning a degree in student ministry. He pursued his calling to serve families faithfully as a student minister at Third City Christian Church. Throughout his time in this role, Josh has served in numerous roles in and outside of this immediate area including:
Leading a team of volunteer adults that serve hundreds of middle/high school students of our area and their families
Working in family counseling
Working in public communication
Coordinating disaster relief, both locally and nationally
Josh has also coached numerous youth sports teams and has served our community of Grand Island in countless ways over the years. His model of leadership is focused on humility and transparency which he carries with him wherever he leads.
Josh’s perspective of GIPS was built through his experience as a parent of three very involved children, decades of being next to families raising their children, and leading a ministry that includes numerous GIPS educators. He cares deeply for the teachers leading our students and believes that the culture they currently work in needs to change.
As a current member of the GIPS Board of Education, Josh is striving to create a culture within GIPS that will both recruit and retain talented educators for the students within our district. He knows that there are problems within the district and he is not afraid to step in and work to create a better GIPS.
