    GIEA president Michelle Carter said Wednesday that the union has nearly 500 members who are teachers in the district.

    Carter also said, “I just want our teachers to be heard and they do not always feel supported and don’t feel like they can always speak what their truth is, because they fear that there will be negative consequences. So many times, they just remain silent, and they just leave. We have not had a voice at the table.”
